Davis Follows Family Connection, Signs with Hastings

Cozad High School senior standout basketball player Olliver Davis signed his Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Hastings College Broncos on May 6. Davis will be majoring in accounting and business. He chose Hastings College for his collegiate basketball career because of their tradition of excellence in academics and athletics. His dad and mom met at Hastings College where Brian played basketball and Aimee played volleyball.

Atchison Captures SWC Individual Title Haymakers Place Fifth as Team

The Cozad Haymakers battled through a competitive field at the Southwest Conference Golf Tournament on May 7 in Broken Bow, finishing fifth overall, Cozad finished the day with a team score of 345, with McCook claiming the team championship. 

Haymakers Card Three Top Finishes at Broken Bow

The Haymakers capped off a demanding and tightly packed week with another huge performance Friday at Broken Bow, finishing second in a competitive field. Cozad posted a team score of 335, coming up just two strokes shy of first-place Holdrege, who finished at 333. 

Playmaker Hoffmaster Breaks Another Record

Cozad turned in a strong showing Thursday, April 16, at the Gothenburg Dutch Zorn Invite, placing 4th as clear skies and a light breeze set the stage for a full day of competition. 

Atchison Takes Second, Haymakers Take Fourth

Cozad boys golf split its week between junior varsity and varsity competition, with the JV squad competing Monday, April 13 in Minden and the varsity traveling Tuesday, April 14 to Johnson Lake near Lexington. 

Lady Haymakers Post Many Personal Bests

Cozad’s girls track and field team competed Thursday, April 16, at the Gothenburg Dutch Zorn Invite, using a sunny day to build experience and add several personal-best performances. 
Whitney Regelin led the sprinters with a 7th-place finish in the 100m in 13.33 and added a 5th-place finish in the 200m in 27.87. She also ran 27.38 in the 200 prelims to qualify for finals. 

Ross Leads Haymakers on the Green

The Cozad boys golf team split up for back-to-back competitions on April 9 and 10, with the varsity squad traveling to Kearney while the junior varsity competed in Arnold.
At the Kearney Invite on Thursday, April 9 held at Meadowlark Golf Course, the Haymakers faced a deep 20-team field and finished 16th overall with a team score of 366.

Haymakers Find Success at Ed Moore

The Haymaker girls and boys track team attended the Ed Moore Invite in Ogallala on Thursday, April 2, where the boys team won the invite title with 133 points against eight teams. Chase County placed second with 112.3 points, followed by Gothenburg in third with 102. 
Chayden Hoffmaster had a record-breaking day! Breaking the Haymaker triple jump record. 

Haymakers Tee off 2026 Season at Bow

The Cozad Haymaker boys golf team opened its 2026 season March 31 at Broken Bow, golfing a solid game so early in the season against a competitive group on a tough course. 
Cozad’s varsity squad finished second overall with a team score of 168, just two strokes behind Broken Bow (166) and ahead of Holdrege (175).

Inek Signs Letter of Intent to United States Army

Cozad High School senior Kersan Inek signs his letter of intent to join the United States Army on Tuesday, March 31. Joining him are his father Iosinobu Keor, along with Sergeant First Class Leaidicker and First Lieutenant McLean. Friends and classmates attended the signing and swearing-in ceremony, with Kaden Shirley and Bryton Baca holding the American flag.

Hoffmaster Soars to Record-Breaking Jump

Chayden Hoffmaster didn’t just win the long jump at Friday’s UNK Indoor Invite on March 20; he rewrote the Cozad record book in emphatic fashion. 

Cozad Youth Wrestling Sends 48 to State

The Cozad Youth Wrestling Club will be well represented at the state tournament, with an impressive 48 wrestlers qualifying for this year’s event. 
State competition took place March 21–22 at the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island. 
With a large and talented group that quailified for Grand Island, Cozad looked to make a strong showing on the state stage.

Yilk Breaks Through, Qualifies for State in Two Events

Members of the Cozad High School Speech Team, under the direction of coaches Woody Blackmore, Yanira Rodriguez, and Omar Carlos, competed at the Class B-6 District Speech Meet at Gering High School on Saturday, March 21. At the district level, the top three finishers in each event qualify for the state meet. 
Cozad earned eight total medals, including six from senior standouts Crystal Hernandez, Talyn Propp, and Camryn Yilk.
